School in Fisenge, Zambia 2019

Once again, the Del Conca Group has decided to build a school for the poorest children, for those who would otherwise have no chance of accessing education. The aim of the project is to give an opportunity to an increasing number of children to attend school, so as not to grow up in semi-illiteracy on the one hand, and to develop potential that would otherwise remain unused on the other hand. This project entails the constructions of a school featuring five classes capable of hosting over two hundred children. They are children who are 7/8 years old, sometimes even 9, and have never gone to school. Today, all these children do not have the opportunity to attend any institution because the closest school is in Luanshya, ten kilometres from their village, and with the children being too undernourished to face such a long journey. The area where the school building will be built is Fisenge, one of the poorest in the country. With the new legislation, which made attendance at kindergarten compulsory, it has become automatic that children who already have the first rudiments have priority for access to elementary school and then to higher grades, leaving no hope for children who were unable to pay fees to attend kindergarten and who most likely could not pay even the elementary school fees. The Fisenge School was designed specifically to ensure that poorer children attend classes up to 7th grade. The project was completed in collaboration with the Association “Carità senza Confini” (“Charity without Boundaries”) and financed with resources originally budgeted for purchasing Christmas Presents for Del Conca Group employees.
